Elmwood designed this logo in partnership with the Maguire family, for the Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund. The idea aims “to capture the spirit of aspiration and achievement that is central to the charity’s purpose.”

The late Ann Maguire spent more than 40 years working as a teacher. She had a passion for helping students to reach their potential. Tragically, Ann was killed in her classroom at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds in April 2014.

Following her death, Ann’s family set up the Ann Maguire Arts Educational Fund to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy. The charity exists “to inspire achievement, create opportunities, enable development and encourage young people to dream of the possibilities in the arts of music, drama, language and dance.”

“We wanted the Ann Maguire Educational Arts Fund to inspire achievement in young people, and Elmwood have captured the spirit of this perfectly with their design. The combination of the dandelion and the hint at academia with the reference to books is an ideal metaphor to show how, with a little support, human potential can be reached and dreams can take flight.”

The purple and jade green palette was chosen to appeal to a young age group, hinting at femininity without being gender specific.

Simon Preece, director of effectiveness stuff at Elmwood said, “We wanted to create something that visually represents the legacy of Ann Maguire, and which brings to life all the hope, opportunities and achievement that a fund like this can bring to young people.”

As yet, there’s no dedicated website for the fund, but more than £45,000 has been raised through the JustGiving page.
